The Indigenous Tribes of the World With our ever changing world may it be due to nature or by human society, the indigenous tribes of the world are shrinking.

I would like to have a gallery showing how unique these tribes are from each other, to show how their daily life is and to show how and what are the tribes are doing to adapt our ever changing society.

Here are the Indigenous Tribes I have in mind.

This is a total luck shot not knowing that the moon was there when I took this shot. I took this shot without looking through the viewfinder and upon reviewing the shot, I thought that there was a dust on the LCD then I tried to wipe it off, but to my surprise when it didn't come off and when I zoomed in, that it was the moon.

yesterday, i went to the san francisco film center with 3 of my co-workers to meet with the property manager for our upcoming company anniversary/mini-offsite meeting. we got there a little late because our printed map is telling us to enter a road that is one way.

when we got there, we met up with the property manager and we walked around the place and looked around as to where we will setup our AV equipments and such. and then when we are nearing our short meeting / Q&A about the place. we asked about if we can use tape for our AV cables.

PM: "no. you can't use tape"
PM: " but you can use gaffers tape."

in my head i was saying, isn't that a type of tape?

and then we were telling her that the map we used confused us on how to get to the place. and the property manager said, you can get our address if you "read the other contract with words". good thing that i wasn't the only one that heard her say that.

what kind of property manager would actually say to the client(s) that to "read the other contract with words."

that's how i got my quote of the day.

day-trip snowboarding

yesterday my friend dugh and i went up to tahoe for a day-trip and on the way there we stopped at ikeda's for lunch which has awesome pie's and awesome burgers. then we arrived at boreal a little past 1pm and we snowboarded for 6 hrs! with a little break at 4pm. and we lucked out on weather, no rain, not too cold, and it was sunny.

we were snowboarding until 7pm and snowboarding at night was a first for me :D and it was great! it was kinda scary in the beginning because you can't see the terrain all that well, but it was kinda good at the same time because you don't see the little bumps that make you worry about wiping-out during day time and it made my body to compensate for the bumps while i make my turns or just going down the slope fast.

working all night after all - part 2

so, here's the result of the off-site presentation at

st. regis hotel. i left at around 7:30am and arrived at the hotel at
around 8:05am. everything was going fine with the setting up of all the equipments for the presentation, until... it all started when the ceo of the company came in and asked me if he can make some changes in his presentation.

i said yes, ofcourse, thinking that it will be easy. but then the tech station laptop (which was the master laptop that i was working on from day 1) decided to not cooperate and gave be the beach ball of death. at that point, i was saying to my self, you have got to be kidding me. so, i grabbed my third backup laptop (good thing i had a spare identical laptop) and suggested that he can make that changes on that one while i prepare the podium laptop. then the podium laptop was taking forever to load, so i asked my friend redge to keep an eye on it while it loads and inform me when its done.

in the end my ceo was able to make all the changes on his powerpoint slides on both laptops (tech station laptop and the podium laptop) and everything went pretty smooth with some minor glitches that no one noticed (i hope).

working all night after all - part 1

its 4am jan. 18, 2008 and still working.

i am currently working on the company's (the company i work for) off-site presentation that will be held at st. regis hotel in san francisco, a whole day event. i thought that i will be able to get some sleep before the event, but it became an all night event for me fixing, adjusting, re-rendering video files for all of the powerpoint presentation and putting it all together into one MASSIVE file.

i am about done with putting it all together now and making sure that it will run as smooth as possible at the show (crossing fingers).

update: 4:18 am

i'm now done making a backup of the presentation file. it is now copying to another laptop that will be at the podium.

update: 4:30 am

copying to laptop 2 is done. now making last copy to laptop 3 (backup laptop (spare)) just in case anything happens to any of the show laptops.

update: 5:30 am

copy of master file to laptop 3 done! after running into some issues with laptop 3, whew! no time for a nap. i might over sleep and be late for the show or worse, not make it.
jumping in the shower soon then pack all the equipments that will be needed for the show.

update: 6:45 am

shower. arrgghh! eyes are burning!

i will try to take some pictures from the show then i'll post it after.

when i read this article, i said to myself, this is crazy and stupid!

this is about a middle-school in fairfax county, va. that enforces a "NO PHYSICAL CONTACT!" rule. this makes me mad, a school that's like a prison or worse! the school even have "assigned cafeteria table", you can't even leave your so called "assigned cafeteria table" without permission and if you do, you'll be reprimanded. heck the school might as well enforce that the students must wear a straight jacket when walking on the school premise.

how will these kids learn how to socialize and know what is appropriate and not? next this you know you'll have something like this.

ahhh! it was another great day to snowboard.

our day started at around 9:30 am and this was outside our room.

we went to heavenly ski resort. i did not get to take pictures of us snowboarding as much as yesterday, for i was practicing my toe edge and perfecting the art of face planting, somersaults, and head banging on the ground multiple times. ofcourse i won't be diong this without some gear to protect my head.

we are going for our last run of the day and there is a part of the trail that you need to gain as much speed as you can so that you won't get stuck at a relatively flat area of the trail, and boy! good thing i was wearing a helmet.

i went down the trail and gained the speed that i needed and was on my toe edge then suddenly, my edge dug in to the snow and next thing i know, i was eating snow and banging my head on the ground big time and that knocked out the wind out of me and i was laying on the ground for about 5 sec. a ski patrol who was on the lift saw me wipe out and asked me if i was ok, i said "yea, i'm ok" and he said, "i've seen that kind of wipe out before and most beginers (in this case me) won't be able to get up and will be needing a medic". but i got up, shook it off then proceded at the fork on the trail were i found dugh having fun in the snow.

i had an awesome time despite of the face planting and all, i would do it al over again. now i must rest and crash. thanks dugh! for driving to tahoe.

so here we are in tahoe again. this time we went to sierra at tahoe its not the greatest of resorts, but i had fun snowboarding with dugh and ledge.

- president's day weekend - (02.17 - 02.19.07)

a group of my friends from VIZ went up to tahoe for ski and snowboarding and this is a sample of what we looked like that long weekend.

this is a very cool action shot of us (all thanks to akane) that i just stiched together. you can see more pix here.

then a week later. we were finishing up one of our company "mini" move and working straight through saturday. now the week is nearly over, we are planing for another trip up to tahoe for another round of snobo. which i'm all excited about, coz' i got my own gear now (thanks peter b.)and there is a lot of fresh snow up in tahoe.

phillipines disconnected from the interweb

i was trying to call my dad so that i can greet him a happy new year, but i couldn't get through all i'm getting is a recording that says "all circuits are busy now, pls. try your call later". so i said to myself, hmmm maybe his cell phone is turned off or he's in a place that has no cell signal, i'll try to call him again in an hour. so i made the call after an hour has passed and still i couldn't get through, so i gave up and tried to call him again the next day, finally i got through then i learned that there was an earthquake that struck taiwan and severely damaged the fiber lines to phillipines and other south east asian countries.

my girlfriend's parents and their friend were in town for 3 days, and then 10 days on a cruise to alaska, then back to sf for one (1) night before heading back to "the land of the rising sun". my girlfriend and i got to play tourist.

3 days after the disneyland trip

we'll like the title says, we went on a day trip to yosemite national park and boy! what a day trip it was!

we all met up at one of our friend's apartment and left around 12:30pm then got to yosemite by 5:00pm and went to go see some waterfalls and man! the scene was amazing!
ate dinner at a picnic grove and this is what we had
then we star gazed for a little bit and after that, we decided to go back to our table to clean up and after about 3 mins later, one of my friends said that he had to take a leak, then i said , ok. right before he was done, we heard him shouted something like "beer!!" "beer!!" and some of my friends asked, "what did he say?" when i looked over to where he was, what i saw wasn't "beer" i saw a four legged thing with a brown colored coat, then i realized that he wasn't shouting "beer!!" but he was shouting BEAR! and there it was walking around close to the other tables in the grove looking for food scraps. we hurried up cleaning up the table with panic and excitment all at the same time then we headed to our cars.

i guess that's one way to kick us out of the picnic grove, hehehehe, and then we started our drive back home. we got home at around 4:30am.

i won't forget this day trip to yosemite.

The end of 4th of july

Its the end of my 5 day holiday weekend :( it went by so fast.

I'm now in the car on the way back to SF from LA. So how was it? It was fun! I went to disneyland and california adventures yesterday with my friends and it was a blast! (i'll post some pix when I get home). How did you spent your holiday weekend?

well, sunday is over. what did i do today? i did a half-day long shopping at the gilroy premium outlets with akane and friends. we had in and out for lunch and had couple of drinks and nachos at applebee's and then ate dinner at ringer hut in san jose (i had tonkatsu curry over rice) and now i'm paying for it :( (currently having a acid reflux attack), but i had fun!

hmmm. how am i going to start this.

this day started by going to napa valley with co-workers and friends and do some wine tasting for about 5hrs and we visited 2 wineries ( V.Satui and Cake Bread ) and went home by 5pm. then, the fun saturday night begins. :)

we had a drinking competition. there were 14 fun people. :D
we drank 2 1/2 bottles of tres generations (tequila anejo), 1bottle of choya (plum wine), yuzu shochu, 1 bottle of akane shochu, mojitos, 2 six pack of beers, and 2

more bottles of wine. and boy, its was a night of drunken people. it was fun! here's a short preview of what happend.
